Pthalo green has always been one of my go-to colors. Introduced in 1938, it is a soft green powder insoluble in water, according to Winsor & Newton. Previous to its introduction, the only greens capable of equal brilliance were the original emerald greens which were opaque, more limited in their mixtures, harmful, and much less permanent.
